(They are not interested in watching it on the computer which is in the wrong room anyway). I don't think I'm missing any setting - it appears that it begins the compression after the recording completes and the program is not watchable on any apple device (i.e. I doubt they will want to wait what may take hours to re-encode before watching the program they recorded. So, it looks like it's a no-fly device for my friends. I did not see a setting for ATV, so I chose iPad and I guess it's converting the PBS NewsHour.eyetv file to an MP4 for iPad/ATV use. It appears it is exporting the program, from what I can tell. It's now half past 7 and the fan is going crazy on the MBA. So I got the program guide and scheduled the PBS News Hour to record at 6:00 PM. I immediately saw some hiccups but they seemed to even out after a few minutes. I installed the hardware and put the software on my MBA, then went to another room to see how it handled live TV.
